The Hammock
by Victoria Ramsey
The sunset displays its wardrobe as it waltzes across the sky
Shades of blue and yellow, pink, purple and some gray
Out here in this red hammock, under the oak tree where I lay
I listen to the the sound of night, frogs, crickets and a coyotes howl
I know that this is meant to be, I am at peace right now
When I am in the city I can’t see the stars at night
Just the silhouette of buildings and the glare of city light
The croaks, the chirps, the baying are replaced by traffic noise
I’ll spend my time here in this hammock , there, l’ve made my choice
