I walk along the river
sit down on the shore
remove my shoes and socks
I wish it could be more
Step carefully into the current
slip on algae covered rocks
glide below the surface
carried weightlessly down stream
As long as I keep swimming
you’ll not catch me in your dream

Purple haze
Fog settles on the land shrouding the countryside in secrecy
Silent, wet, concealing haze, daylight cannot penetrate
Total silence surrounds me, I alone exist, hidden in this murky void
Insignificant, feeling small, am I really here at all

Colors of the night
Where did you get that wardrobe that you parade across the sky
All the newest colors and all the current styles
Pastel pinks and yellows, blues and deep maroons
Frilly chiffon party dresses to waltz before the moon
When there is no party, the moon hides behind the clouds
You dress up in your basic black adorned with classic pearls
Joy
I found my joy today while sitting on the beach
Wind blowing my hair around, sand covering my feet
Pelicans stand sentry on wooden posts, hot sun burning brown my back
Mullet jumping in the surf, seagulls diving to attack
A dolphin dives below the surface and leaps above the waves
Tugboats crossing the horizon on journeys long to memories make
The peace and the tranquility, the calm that soothes my heart
My God he made this all for me, the sun, the sand, the sea
I promise Lord to tend and share and cherish my small part
